I know that your eager to fulfill your role Keep your eye on the demons they’ll swallow your soul I know that your eager to fulfill your role but watch out for the demons… Play it safe don’t play it cool I was raised to be a fool Keep me humble treat me cruel Put me in the corner expand your gene-pool My defective, reflective medic, I got to hope that this ain’t just some cheap trick you’re incessant, but right candescent, and that arse is an antidepressant.. The magician has made the incision, Racked by guilt and indecision Hopes dashed and his life flashed Cars crashed and last cheque’s cashed. I know that your eager to fulfill your role Keep your eye on the demons they’ll swallow your soul I know that your eager to fulfill your role Keep your eye on the demons they’ll swallow your soul I know that your eager to fulfill your role Keep your eye on the demons they’ll swallow your soul I know that your eager to fulfill your role but watch out for the demons Paint it black and red and blue, Take it all, i wouldn’t have a clue. If I’m not me then who the hell are you? Lie to me, tell me what you said was true My self-deductive constructive critic, the hands on the clock just tick, And time flies on drive bys, closed eyes and forgotten lullabies.
Oh my eclectic electric skeptic, piece by piece and brick by brick, We’ll construct a new lifetime, red wine, moonshine I know that your eager to fulfill your role Keep your eye on the demons cos they’ll swallow your soul I know that your eager to fulfill your role Keep your eye on the demons cos they’ll swallow your soul I know that your eager to fulfill your role Keep your eye on the demons cos they’ll swallow your soul I know that your eager to fulfill that role but it’ll suck out your soul and it’ll eat it and you won’t have anything left and that’ll be a disappointment to your famiy…

So much for the good times, You’re a lot if not brave. Sunglasses and moonshine, We’ll be wasted for days… I’m glad you never changed. Tell me where did I go wrong? I’m not afraid to be shamed. I’ve had this feeling for so long; We’re just pawns in a game, And it’s gonna stay the same On the outside of your mind, On the inside of mine. I rejected my own kind, And I’m feelin just fine… But give it time. What is the problem? Set your raygun to stun, Carry on when your god’s done. Or are you too fucking dumb? Maybe I’m just too young.

I think it was hard to exist, for them at least. Life is short so I’ll keep it brief: I ain’t no beast. And under seas it can even be seen, What’s real and what’s a dream, Cos that’s the never ending theme, Least that’s what they telled me. and I’ve guessed it was resist, to most I bet, a generation inherently pissed, we’ll fix and forget. If there’s a reason that I’ve missed please point it out, Moving on from being for just to about. I descend from my thoughts in to boredom, If you could only do without. Through time and space, we move in mysterious ways Shake free the chase; we’ve got to get out of this place Over hill or under mountain I will roam, and I’ll do it on my own walking paths that’s paved with bones…. There ain’t no such thing as glory. A sea of thieves relieved the queen of all her needs, while savage lords were spreading lies and sowing seeds. I need space to breathe, And a time to leave. But as dejected as I was I couldn’t lie, and you wouldn’t me in the eye Swear down I’d make you cry, So you’d best not bother. Through time and space, we move in mysterious ways Shake free the chase; we’ve got to get out of this place

about

Who is Hannibal Rex? What is Hannibal Rex? When is Hannibal Rex? Where is Hannibal Rex? Why Hannibal, why?

In short: we'll be fucked if we know.

From the heat blasted deserts of Australia to the wind ravaged pines of wildest Scotland, via that little service station on the M5 just outside Tewksbury where someone swore they once saw his face in a cup of mescaline laced Bovril the true story of Hannibal Rex is too long, rambling and factually facetious to be told here in full or in earnest.

To surmise: rumoured to be born of hardworking Northern stock in the early post-war years (the second really big shit war to be precise) a young Hannibal struck out alone and undaunted to pursue what will become known as his "dreamstate." Crossing the equator to reconnect with the lands his family were thought to have originally emigrated from he fell into the company of a society known across the continent of Oceania as the Twelve Kings Of Rex.

It was during this time he learned music; playing rudimentary guitar under the
stars with the accompanying ‘Churchbabes’ on bass, drums and keys respectively… and occasionally chucking out a Pitbull remix under his Freemasons alias to keep the lights on and relatively name-brand tinnies in the fridge.

After an unknown time immersed in the heat & the haze of the Kings' arid courts of dusty excess Hannibal was convinced by The Twelve to apostatize all previous bloodlines and identity; swearing allegiance to the Kings and pledging never again to remove the masks which held the keys to his crown.

Thus bonding him to his fellow Rex for life.

Reborn and repossessed, the nearly crowned Hannibal Rex took once more to the dust and the waves, embarking on a series of adventures to be regaled in full at a later date, which ultimately ended in his untimely extinction in early 1998 at the hands / paws and teeth of the very same Canis lupus magna (fucking great wolves) he had been tasked with reintroducing to the aforementioned wilds of Scotland on behalf of New Labour.

And now twenty two years on, at the end of a well rubbish decade, on the eve of the first leap year of a new decade, through what can only be described as a Shitual (shit ritual), performed at the swell of the highest tide for a generation: Hannibal Rex has risen.

A man of one tribe. A man of no name. A man of many masks but few allegiances: these are but four of The One Hundred & Forty Faces Of… Hannibal Rex.
